I took a vacation day yesterday to go to AGPNY
but things didn't go as planned. On the way i needed to stop at the bank and my 80 year old mom agreed to cash my pay check since i don't have an account. Anyway we were walking very slowly since i'm disabled. My mom was talking very loudly to me and said, "ok first we'll stop at the bank and cash our checks, then we'll go have breakfast". I noticed a man keeping pace with us which seemed odd since we were walking so slow. I'm sure he heard our plans and it made me nervous. We stopped walking and so did he, crossed the street and he followed, went into a store with him right behind us, crossed the street again with him in tow. After about 15 minutes it was obvious that he was stalking us, just waiting for us to go to the bank. I'm usually not at all nervous on the street but this guy was so creepy that i was really upset and we finally just went back home. I wanted to try again later but the walk to the train is too hard for me to make 2 trips. So i wasted a vacation day and i'm really bummed now. Has this sort of thing ever happed to anyone? How should i have handled it? Maybe i should have just confronted the guy with "why are you following us?" or just ignored him.

That would have creeped me out! Does your bank usually have police officer on duty? If so you could have alerted him. I'm not sure what else you could have done. I'm sorry you didn't get to make your visit to AGP. I hope you get to go soon.

That's a shame. You don't really think about, but pickpocketing/pursesnatching happen all the time! I just don't understand why people wnat to steal money... I don't think I ever could, I would feel to bad for the person who I was lifting from!
Hope you get another chance!

I definitely wouldn't have confronted him! Who knows what he would have done. Once, in high school, my friend and I did something very foolish, and we found ourselves being followed by a group of guys whose intentions were "not good" to say the least. (We were in cars, so there was a little safety buffer). Well we didn't want to go home because we didn't want them to know where we lived. We ended up driving toward the police station. On the way we saw a police car at Donutland (yes, it really was Donutland). So we pulled in there, went into the restaurant and sat in the booth next to the police. The boys went away. In a situation like you were in I probably would have gone to the bank and talked to the security guard (if there was one) or tried to hop in a cab even if it was for just a 1/2 mile or so to put some distance inbetween you and him.

Scary, though. Sorry that happened to you.

Thanks for the good advice. I've never seen a cop or a security guard in the bank and my mom was robbed there once before. I was worried about him following us home too but he stopped on the corner and didn't actually follow us to the door. I have a very large, scary looking dog and i knew she would be at the door when we opened it. A guy followed me home from work once and tried to push his way into the house but he ran when he saw her. She didn't even get a chance to growl at him.

You made the PERFECT DECISION to go home .....

You are safe and you have your $$ for another day at AGP !!

This guy might have been watching you, but there was obviously a higher being watching you also, which made you aware of him following you AND helped you make the choice in what to do in the situation !! It could have turned out sooo sooo much different, but you were SMART..

(it definately would have been a HARD decision to give up a visit to AGP though... )

It sounds like you did the right thing. I mean, if you didn't get rid of him, he might have taken your doll money (or done a lot worse to you!)

So sorry, this happened. It's sad that we have to watch out for people like this guy.
Have a safe and happy trip to AGPNY next vacation day. I'll pray for that good day.

OOOOHHHH, SCARY! I pity you, that would ruin a day! I'm not an expert on this sort of stuff, but I wouldn't have said anything to him but I think it would be a good idea to go in a store and ask someone to use a phone or go to security or something? One time at a drug store I needed to call my mom to let her know me and my friends went for pizza and I would be back at my friend's house later than we orignally planned and they et me use the phone.

I probably would have ended up going home too if I was being followed. Maybe I would have totally aborted plans to go to the bank, and just gone to AGPNY for about an hour to lose him or something. Hopefully you get the chance to go again!
